God's gifts in two years

Today we celebrate two years since meeting our baby boy.  (See Our long-awaited referral for more.)  Two years since we first saw Abel's picture on our computer screen and Scott and I cried happy tears, knowing that we were staring into the face of our second child.  Two years since we spent a spring in agony, waiting for permission to pick up our child.

Oh, what blessings since that day two years ago.  God brought us to the boy He chose for us.  He prepared him for our family and our family for him.  Two  years ago today, Scott and I "met" and fell in love with a picture of a boy -- our boy -- the one God chose.

Happy referral-versary, Abel.  We love you.

What a great day! I still remember seeing him in Ethiopia. The poor sick boy (he had a cold that day)! I am glad to watch him grow up via blogworld. Love the beater picture!

Man! I can't believe it's been 2 years since we were able to lay eyes on your precious boy, truly hand picked in heaven for you!! :)

I had forgotten happened to be right before we found out that our Little Caboose would be added to our train ride! :)

Aren't these boys a beautiful reminder that He is FAITHFUL?!

After eleven years and 127,000 miles, Scott's Saturn has driven on.  That amazing little economical Saturn saw us through life in the college dorms, life in married student housing, our first apartment, our first home, our first relocation, and the addition of our two kids.   We're happy to say it ended up in good hands, with my cousin, Angei, and her husband, Adam.  We had a wonderful time visiting with them for a speedy 12 hours, before they needed to drive it on to its new home.  We even got to show them some small town fun at our annual Christmas parade. Meet Abel!

We are praising God this morning!  After two unsuccessful court dates, we passed court in Ethiopia today! And what verse should I read this morning, but Psalm 34:3... "Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together."    (When I read it, I was hoping beyond hope that I would be able to post it on here after we passed court!) Now we are finally allowed to introduce our son to you!  His name is Abel (which means "breath").  We love his name and are so excited to raise our son in the legacy of the Biblical Abel, a faithful and righteous man, and the first prophet (Luke 11:46-51). God's gifts from Kindergarten completion

Catching up from the last two weeks, as Adrianna finished Kindergarten and we enjoyed our first two weeks of summer vacation... - Adrianna starting "summer lessons" ... and her being excited about the journal topics and lesson ideas we put together  - Adrianna making thank you notes for her teachers ... and Adrianna thanking her teacher for helping Adrianna learn to spell  - Attending Adrianna's Kindergarten Revue - A rare morning home with just Abel, Scott, and me, as Adrianna finished her last day ... And watching a few minutes of Sesame Street with Abel for the first time ... And him realizing, "I have Elmo in my room!"  - The last day of Kindergarten - Adrianna reading me the Skippy John Jones book her teacher gave her - Attending Adrianna's piano recital ...
