One month home
Now that I finally completed the travel blogs, I figured I should update what has been going on around our house for the last month that we have been home.
And now if I can let the month of photos do some of the commentary...
Thankfully, Scott used his paternity leave from work to keep a half-time schedule throughout July. Because he worked varied hours, it was hard for us to get into a routine, but having Scott at home more definitely helped our transition. Thanks to Scott's extra time, Adrianna felt more included, Abel got to know Scott more, and I had extra help with all the extra tasks.
And now if I can let the month of photos do some of the commentary...
Abel was intimidated by the big bath tub, so we started him out small, as he got used to baths. Adrianna loved being the helper with those.
We were blessed to have three weeks' worth of meals provided for us by sweet friends. One friend brought along a homemade puzzle from her son for Adrianna's enjoyment.
Over several visits, Abel learned to be more comfortable with his grandparents. He even let just Grandma stay in his room tonight as he fell asleep!
Adrianna and her friend Jenny tend to think of Abel as their live doll! Occasionally, he does grow tired of their doting.
Our sweet, aging Rusty grows tired easily these days. He seems to be saying, "How am I supposed to keep up with two kids??"
Our house has needed the trim repainted for several years. In the spring, we finally got our act together and got on our painter's schedule (he has a three-month wait list). He arrived to start prep work on Friday, which meant that the patio cover that needed repair needed to be repaired now, so that it can be repainted. As with most home repair projects, the patio cover project has led to many hours of related work -- three hours in home improvement stores, entertaining two children, yesterday being one of them!
And there is a tiny taste of our latest adventures... Abel and Adrianna have been sweet playmates, and are swiftly discovering new ways to be goofy together. The arrival of this long-awaited little one is a blessing to my heart. We end each day weary, but grateful and full of praise to the One who has blessed us beyond our dreams.
