God's gifts from the beach
We were blessed to take a family vacation to Southern California. I returned to my roots and my kids saw where I came from -- through both the beautiful family tree and the physical locations.
Because I have a weeks' worth of vacation photos, I'll start with just the first half of our trip...
From right before we left...
- Giving Abel a hair cut
- Adrianna playing store with me (using an idea one of her math take-home papers)
- Adrianna doing her missed school work outdoors, and Abel playing with the math manipulatives, too, while I madly packed for the trip- Fun times on the airplane
... Adrianna designing with pipe cleaners
...Scott and Abel hanging out
... Adrianna doing water color paintings
- The blessing of staying with my friend Ashley (who I've known since Kindergarten) and her husband Kevin at their family's beach house -- the very one I visited with her as a kid
- Abel finally getting to see what the beach is, after telling us he wanted "to go to the beach" for weeks
... And the kids not wanting to complete our walk until they'd had a visit on it
- Finding a grassy hill to tumble down
- Ashley bringing books to share with the kids
- Ashley telling us about a free park full of fun family activities
... And getting free carousel rides
... And Adrianna riding a bunny, of course
... And laughing at the tall guys (Kevin and Scott) riding the tiny animals
... And getting free bounce-house jumps
- Abel cracking us up by saying in the public bathroom, "I'm smelling eggs-es"
... And her making a scarf with it for Ashley
... And Ashley wearing it :)
- Taking the kids out to build sand castles
... And Ashley and me getting into it more they than did
... And making a tunnel actually connect under the sand
- Finding pictures of Scott's tower he made while playing with Abel
- Riding the ferry
- Going to the end of the pier
... And seeing a seal and dolphins
- Playing at the park on the beach
... And Kevin swinging with Abel
... And buying shells from Adrianna's "Shell Store"
- Playing at the "wavy beach"
... And Kevin and Adrianna leaving "hieroglyph" pictures in the sand
... And riding the "sand elevators"... And Abel's happy hands
- Abel thanking God for ... "Getting to ride in the stroller on the beach when I got grumpy"
- "Mr. Kevin's working outside!"
- An amazing visit with some dear friends
