Bed again
Since Adrianna grew old enough for a "big kid bed," she has had... uh, five of them. Yeah, that sounds like a lot of beds. :) When she was three, it started with a hand-me-down trundle bed from her grandparents. From there, she upgraded to a "picket fence" bed that some friends were letting go. And then she literally "up"-graded to a loft bed. That loft bed remains in her room, and she uses it every day at rest time. But when Abel came home, and Adrianna offered to let keep him company at night, she's been sleeping on a "guest" mattress on the floor of his room (see below).
It didn't seem quite fair to leave Adrianna on the floor mattress long-term. The covers don't stay tucked in, and it really is only a couple of inches thick -- intended as a temporary mattress.
I had my eye on an Ikea day bed frame for the last couple of months. I measured, and it seemed that it would just fit in Abel's room. Knowing that Scott's parents would be right by in Ikea when they visited family in Texas, we asked if they might be able to pick it up for us. How fortuitous are we?! They brought home our new dog and a new bed frame for Adrianna.
The best news was that we didn't even need to buy a new mattress or bedsprings; Scott's parents had them in storage.
So for a mere $90, we were able to get Adrianna off the floor and into a real bed. And maybe as Abel gets older, he can use it as his "big kid" bed.
