Milk a-plenty

Proverbs 27

1 Do not boast about tomorrow,
for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

18 He who tends a fig tree will eat its fruit,
and he who looks after his master will be honored.

23 Be sure you know the condition of your flocks,
       give careful attention to your herds;

24 for riches do not endure forever,
and a crown is not secure for all generations.

25 When the hay is removed and new growth appears
and the grass from the hills is gathered in,

26 the lambs will provide you with clothing,
and the goats with the price of a field.

27 You will have plenty of goats' milk
to feed you and your family
and to nourish your servant girls.

Several weeks ago, our friend and local goat breeder, who provided us with our weekly goat milk, let us know that she did not have enough milk supply to continue providing us with milk.  Since we were out of goat milk, we went back to regular cow's milk.  Within a day or two, Adrianna had a rash around her face.  At first, we didn't suspect anything; Adrianna has regular eczema, which we treat with ointments, and they heal.

But this rash did not heal.  After three weeks of treatment, with no improvement, I took Adrianna to the physician's assistant.  I mentioned to her what I thought might be the cause (milk), and she agreed that it likely was.  She suggested we take Adrianna off all dairy for two weeks to see if it healed.  We have now completed over one week without cow's dairy, and Adrianna's rash is almost all healed.

After paying almost $4.00 for a quart of goat milk at our health food store, my mother in law gladly let me know that her baby goats are starting to be weaned, and she has goat milk for Adrianna.  And then at the grocery store on Monday, I saw another local friend with a milking goat, and she let me know that she is getting so much goat milk, she needs to find someone who wants it.

God's gentle provision just melts me.  We did not do anything to deserve the gift of milk our daughter can drink.  Thank you, sweet Father.
