Cousins and rain and fort


Our nephew, Kevin, age 10, came to stay with my in-laws last week. We made sure that he and Adrianna got play time together. Kevin has a little sister and brother, so he's used to playing with younger kids.

Adrianna had fun trying to keep up, and trying out bigger kid games (Sorry, Stay Alive). A few times, she would concede part way through, just so that it would end. (I can't say that I blame her... One Sorry game did go on for over 45 minutes!)

We don't get too many rainy days here (most rain comes in the evenings), but Friday was a drizzly day. Adrianna snatched the chance to don her rain boots and Snoopy umbrella to splash and play.Sunday afternoon proved to be a good time to build a fort. (Those are Scott's toes peeking out of the quilt.) Adrianna, Miss Imagination, said that the fort was the hotel and the kid chairs were the rental car.
She is sure blessed to have a dad who is a good sport!

So fun! That's awesome that Scott plays with her. We used to have AWESOME forts when I was a kid. :)

After eleven years and 127,000 miles, Scott's Saturn has driven on.  That amazing little economical Saturn saw us through life in the college dorms, life in married student housing, our first apartment, our first home, our first relocation, and the addition of our two kids.   We're happy to say it ended up in good hands, with my cousin, Angei, and her husband, Adam.  We had a wonderful time visiting with them for a speedy 12 hours, before they needed to drive it on to its new home.  We even got to show them some small town fun at our annual Christmas parade. Catching up from the last two weeks, as Adrianna finished Kindergarten and we enjoyed our first two weeks of summer vacation... - Adrianna starting "summer lessons" ... and her being excited about the journal topics and lesson ideas we put together  - Adrianna making thank you notes for her teachers ... and Adrianna thanking her teacher for helping Adrianna learn to spell  - Attending Adrianna's Kindergarten Revue - A rare morning home with just Abel, Scott, and me, as Adrianna finished her last day ... And watching a few minutes of Sesame Street with Abel for the first time ... And him realizing, "I have Elmo in my room!"  - The last day of Kindergarten - Adrianna reading me the Skippy John Jones book her teacher gave her - Attending Adrianna's piano recital ... Meet Abel!

We are praising God this morning!  After two unsuccessful court dates, we passed court in Ethiopia today! And what verse should I read this morning, but Psalm 34:3... "Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together."    (When I read it, I was hoping beyond hope that I would be able to post it on here after we passed court!) Now we are finally allowed to introduce our son to you!  His name is Abel (which means "breath").  We love his name and are so excited to raise our son in the legacy of the Biblical Abel, a faithful and righteous man, and the first prophet (Luke 11:46-51).
