Mother of Two (just for the week)
For the Fourth of July weekend, we went up to the Frisco condo (my dad and Debbie's).
We got to relax in the cool mountain air, take advantage of special Fourth sales at the outlet mall, take our dog on grassy walks, and do a little swimming. We even picked up an extra child for our trip home. My sister and her family came up for Saturday, to visit, and to bring us my nephew. Samuel gets to stay with us for the week.
After his family went back home, he and Adrianna quickly got along. Samuel is used to having two sisters and a little brother around, so sharing with Adrianna was no big deal for him. And Adrianna appreciated having a kid to play with, since Mom and Dad don't quite play like a kid does.
We made the round trip (6 hours each way) by leaving Friday and coming back Sunday. Obviously, this time frame is not ideal with a child! Adrianna had to miss two naps in three days, and we allowed her to stay up late watch fireworks on the Fourth. The last two hours of our trip home were the longest, but we made it (!), and got them both into bed after a quick dinner.
We started out our week in NM together by going to a park for play group. Mud is rare in NM, but there were enormous puddles at the park this time. I guess it rained an inch here yesterday while we were gone. The kids played in the mud for an hour and a half of glorious fun. When we told them it was time to leave, they started falling apart with complaints of wet clothes (of course!).
More adventures to come.
