1 Samuel 1:27 For this child I prayed, and the LORD has granted me my
petition which I asked of Him.
Before I get back to the travel journal entries, I wanted to give God the glory for the great things He has done. He answered so many prayers for us throughout this journey, and I want to record a few of the answers to the requests I mentioned before we left.
- Airplane travels - I did, indeed, get sick on our first short flight to Houston, but then God blessed me with a combination of medicines to help, and I did not have any sickness on our two flights over 15 hours! Thank You, God!
- Abel traveled wonderfully (especially considering that he's only 15 months old!). He slept as needed, ate well, and stayed relatively content through the many hours of travel.
- Bonding/attachment - While this is an on-going process, we have been blessed with a sweet start to the bonding and attachment of Abel with us and us with him. When we first picked him up, he was very shy with us for a couple of days, and then warmed up to us more each day. Before we left Ethiopia, he was giggling for us, and choosing us out of a crowd of people. We even got to re-visit his nannies before we left, and he gave them hugs, and then went running back to us. Praise God!
- Adrianna - We wondered if Adrianna would miss us while we were gone for ten days. She was blessed with such fun with her grandparents (Steve, Julie, and Debbie), that she did not seem to have any sadness over our absence! Her grandparents report that she was content and well-behaved while we were gone. We even phoned her a couple of times, and enjoyed hearing her happy updates. Yea!
- Siblings - One of our deepest desires is that Adrianna and Abel would be life-long friends. They are off to a sweet start. They already know how to make each other giggle. Abel even has a "monster hug" game he plays every time Adrianna uses her step stool -- giggles from both parties! Adrianna is working hard to be helpful and thoughtful with her brother. We know rivalry may arise in the coming months, but we are grateful for the beginnings of friendship between them.
- In the journal entries, you will see more examples of God's faithfulness is bringing us to our son -- the one we have waited for for so long.
Thank you, friends and family, for praying with us. Thank You, Father, for your sweet gifts to us.
